Artist Profile
Katharena Rentumis is a visual artist working primarily with paper, printmaking, and experimental low tech light installations. She earned a BFA with distinction in Printmaking and Glass studies from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston in 2012. Katharena has traveled extensively to participate in programs at Pilchuck Glass School, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and Corning Museum of Glass. She was recently a resident artist at Vermont Studio Center and was awarded the Genevieve McMillan/Reba Stewart Printmaking Traveling Fellowship to fund new work and research with traditional eastern papermaking with a concentration on Hanji, Korean mulberry paper.


Residence Plan
During her time as a Resident at Youkobo Art Space, Katharena will work to connect traditional paper processes to contemporary life and art. She will focus on Japanese paper and translate new ideas into her work with installation, drawing, and print. Katharena plans to navigate her new work at Youkobo with inspiration from the neighboring community and culture.
