Sarah Maria Scicluna
[Malta]Sarah Maria Scicluna was born in Malta in 1988. Although her initial studies were of the sciences, she studied Fine Arts at MCAST Art & Design, where she obtained a B.A (Hons) in Fine Arts, and she holds a Master's Degree in Digital Arts from the University of the Arts London, Camberwell.
Her work continuously explores ritual, systems and chance, placing a lot of importance on the process. Scicluna's work varies from installation to silk screen printing and documentation, while often using digital media as a starting point. Harbouring a fascination with place and its experience, Sarah plans to explore this further in Tokyo, at Youkobo Art space, investigating how experience can be recorded and preserved visually as part of an archive.
At Youkobo Art Space, Sarah will be exploring the city, while recording it in many ways. This will take place as documenting movement, photographic and video documentation, drawing and mapping. Sarah is interested in the concept of the metropolis and the archive, and will be experimenting with various aspects of portraying this visually. A lot of emphasis will be placed on the documentation of the streets, which are usually referred to the quintessential place of the everyday ? as so many things happen there. This collection of work will exist as her personal archive of my experience, by mapping experiences rather than simply geographical elements.
