Francisco Guevara

[Mexico]

Francisco's work and projects emphasize the role of contemporary art in economic development and as a tool for social change. As an artist he has explored the links between food, rituals of eating and collective identity. He is director of the independent art space/residence Arquetopia. During his residency he will be investigating the connections between Japan and Mexico though the medium of food which although a primal necessity also reflects highly specific social contexts. "Microresidencies have "a great potential for exchange and international cooperation, challenging misconceptions and stereotypes, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, transfer technology and in the end promote human development one-on-one.
