I prefer to work free from the restrictive aesthetic conventions and commercial concerns of movie industry, a stance which allows me to explore the possibilities of the art of film to the fullest. This project consists of films frames extracted from propaganda films of 80-90' of Korea, which was discovered accidentally while I was shooting documentary of old theaters in Korea. "Hatching films" sets out to reconfirm film's status as a personal art form at a time when mainstream channels of production is moving increasingly into the digital realm, while film art dismisses it just as old stuff
