Mirel Wagner is the sister of Saron Wagner, partner of current resident artist Jaakko Mattila. On the occasion of her visit to Japan, Mirel has agreed to hold a private concert in the Youkobo gallery for a limited audience only.

Mirel Wagner is a 23 year old singer/songwriter, born in Ethiopia and raised in Espoo, Finland. Since age 16 she's writing gloomy Blues and Folk songs, stripped down to the bone. It's just about her airy but rough voice and a minimalistic guitar picking. Avoiding theatric gestures effortlessly her music has a unique intensity and emotional weight.

Wagner's second album, When the Cellar Children See the Light of Day (released in August 2014) peaked number one in the Finnish Album Chart, and was later awarded the award for Best Nordic Album of the Year in the 2014 Nordic Music Prize.
